Please note: only functions implemented inside the DENEB FPGA are changed by
firmware updates, not the contents of the user FlashROM.
In some cases it may be necessary to clear and rewrite the DENEB user FlashROM or
update the bootloader using Luciferin.
Please read the information attached to the new firmware images carefully before starting
the update process. You will avoid unnecessary problems and support inquiries caused by them.
Firmware | Bus system | Description |
V8 | Zorro II / Zorro III | FPGA watchdog removed. FlashROM can be temporarily deactivated by keyboard reset. |
V9 | Zorro III | CV64/3D workaround, fixes DMA related problems. May also cure some other DMA problems if no CV64/3D is present. |
V10 | Zorro III | Non public test version, please upgrade to V11 immediately! |
V11 | Zorro III | Buster 11 DMA fix, enables stable DMA operation with Zorro III RAM. All new clockport support. Mediator workaround, fixes DMA problems. |
In contrast to other companies we offer firmware updates usually without any "upgrade costs"
for free - as special service to our customers. All owners of a DENEB can download and
install the firmware updates without prior registration. It doesn't matter for us if your
DENEB was bought new or second hand.
The firmware update is simple and does not require pulling logic ICs from the board (with the
risk of damaging traces or ICs). You also avoid long (and in some cases extraordinary expensive)
shipment by snail mail.
The most recent version should also be availible on Aminet.
Please remember that updates are always to be installed completely. You should avoid mixing different releases of the Poseidon software, as newer versions of parts of the software may rely on features not present in former versions. Please install updates completely to avoid incompatibilities.
It is recommended to backup the last version of Poseidon on your harddisk before installing updates. In case of problems you will be able to return to the last working version should unexpected problems occur after the update.
